The school year is winding down and despite the cloudy weather, the trees are blooming and budding away. Tulips and daffodils are making their colorful debuts. Summer is around the corner, and for those of us who know any young people, it’s time to start planning for what to do when school’s out for summer. Never fear! QDF has compiled a list of Summer Drama Camps for your perusal.

Montreal Acting Youth Summer Theatre Program

  • Ages 8-12: July 11 – 22
  • Ages 13-16: July 25 – August 5
  • Location: Studio l’équilibre en Mouvement, 1208 Van Horne (metro Outremont)
  • Fees: $475 for 2 week program

Description: Professional level performing arts training with certified teacher & theatre artist, Julia Ainsworth (B.ED, B.F.A). Explore a variety of thatre disciplines and techniques such as: voice, movement, character development, stagecraft, improv, storytelling, play creation, performance. The participants will be involved in creating an original play to be performed to an invited audience at the end of the session.

 

Cabaret Kids Performing Arts Summer Camp

  • Ages 5-16
  • Session 1 (2 weeks) – June 26th- July 7th
  • Session 2 (2 weeks) – July 10th – July 21st
  • Session 3 (2 weeks) – July 24th – August 4th
  • Session 4 (2 weeks) – August 7th – August 18th

Description: Work on different plays every two weeks! Every child gets a part, be it singing, acting, or dancing. Every actor is taught stage direction and will enjoy the experience of working as a group to put together a show that they can all be proud of come performance day. Kids will have a blast dressing up in costumes and creating skits, as well as playing theatre games and singing songs! Each activity is instructed by a professional in their trained field.  There will be a live performance every second week that will include a small part of everything taught during the summer.

 

Pegasus Theatre and Film Camp

  • Ages 8-12: July 17th – July 21st & July 24th – July 28th
  • Ages 13-17: July 31st – August 4th  & August 7th – August 11th

Description: Students can expect to explore various theatrical mediums such as creative movement, improv, neutral and character mask, emotions, clowning, voice and diction, music and rhythm, and body awareness. Our students will also get hands on experience working on an advanced film project. It’s all about staying busy and having fun. It’s about bringing out the creativity and imagination in each of our young performers, and encouraging them to express themselves with more confidence and clarity.

 

National Theatre School Youth Program

  • Ages 13-17: July 31st – August 11th

Description: The 10-day intensive will include workshops on voice, listening, movement, text analysis, but also scenography, costume design and stage management. These workshops will be delivered by professionals and NTS alumni.

MSOPA Offering Young Actor’s Workshop Summer Camp

  • Ages 7 to 15: Aug 07 – Aug 11, Mon-Fri 9:00am – 5:00pm (2- 15 minute breaks & a one-hour lunch)

Serving Montreal’s Acting community for 25 years, M.S.O.P.A offers serious training in a safe, fun, and challenging environment, developing a craft that allows you to be truthful, emotionally alive and that helps you find the courage to express your thoughts. In an industry where there are no guarantees, we educate our actors to be realistic and learn the business by providing casting and networking opportunities.

The staff and administration of MSOPA know that summer is a time for students to have fun.  With that in mind, we have developed a program that gives the young actor the opportunity to be creative.

Program objectives:

Singing, Movement, Improvisation, Scene Work, Audition Skills, On Camera Work, Film Making, Voice Over & Networking Opportunities

  • To provide a friendly, supportive atmosphere to students.
  • To teach specific acting skills and techniques, through theatre games, improvisation exercise and text.
  • To encourage risk-taking in their acting work.
  • To train the body and voice.
  • To learn audition skills and scene study techniques.
  • To develop trust in themselves and the group.
  • To help develop self-confidence
  • To learn directing and production skills to promote leadership and organization.

There will be two industry field trips and a showcase performance on the last day.

Cost: $460.00 – REGISTER BEFORE MAY 31 SAVE 10%
